We will roll out the new Committee Handbook and collaborate on how to work shoulder to shoulder with staff and leaders to reach more kids.

If you register by December 10th, we can send you a copy of the handbook before the call! Reach out to Tanya with any questions!

Updated U.S. Screening and Training Requirements

Beginning the week of December 2, new screening requirements will be in place for all U.S. staff and U.S. volunteers (volunteer leaders, committee, and candidates). These requirements will help ensure we provide safe and welcoming environments for students while complying with state and federal regulations. New requirements consist of:

  • Child Safety Training: Required for all U.S. employees and volunteers, regardless of whether they work directly with students.
  • Criminal Background Check for Committee: Mandatory for all committee members ($26 per person).
  • Faith and Conduct Acknowledgement for Committee Chairs: Required for all committee chairs.

The Launch of Courses inside YL Connect

Also beginning the week of December 2, U.S. staff and volunteers will receive email notifications prompting them to log in and access a new course dashboard in a new part of YL Connect. This will be the new place for staff and volunteers to review and complete their required screening and training courses. Supervising offices will also receive notifications and have access to a supervisory dashboard in YL Connect to monitor their team’s compliance.

This system will replace legacy applications such as the Staff Volunteer Roster (SVR), the Faith and Conduct application (F&C), Criminal Background Check (CBC) application, the Driver Questionnaire (DQ), and more. Beginning November 21, these legacy applications will no longer be available/viewable.

Volunteers can still be added to YL Connect, but these screenings and trainings will be paused beginning November 21 while we transition to the new system.

In summary:

  • The new place for staff and volunteers to review and complete their required screening and training courses will be in YLC
  • Volunteer screenings and training will be paused beginning November 21 while we transition to the new system.
