
Purpose:
DFL Program is a funding initiative which offers a financial jump start of $500/ month in matching funds for 3 years that supports training individualized to the area needs and catered to the candidate’s experience in order to equip, support, and help them thrive in ministry long term.this space to say what makes your service special.
The heart behind the DFL program is that the DFL will receive the training needed to be an outstanding YL staff person while receiving financial supplementation, giving a more diverse pool of people the opportunity to develop leadership and ministry skills.
Who can be a DFL?
- A Student Staff who is thinking of full time staff and needs help in fundraising
- A Volunteer Leader who is serving well and considering YL Staff
- An adult in a small town who feels called to “Incarnational Youth Ministry” but is new to YL
Expectations of a DFL
- Complete the tasks according to their job description. The AD and ARD will generate a job description. Performance expectations will be assigned and reviewed for each DFL.
- Successfully complete training. The AD and Trainer will choose the appropriate training track.
Possible training Tracks include:
-Student Staff
-Leadership 1 and 2
-YL 101 (Individualized plan with Regional Trainer)
-ELD + Development (Modified modules based on competencies) - Participate in personal development and evaluation with a supervisor or trainer
-DFL Vision Document (DFL tab of AVD)
-DFL program check in (individuals or in groups with Regional Trainer)
Qualifications of DFL
- Demonstrates the basic YL leader skills
- Strong potential for future YL staff position
- Committed to the community of ministry for the next 2-3 years
- Flexible to attend training, meetings and functions on weekends and evenings
- Heart for kids and the lost
Commitment of Young Life Staff Supervising a DFL
- Meet weekly with DFL and use DFL Vision Document as a supervision tool
- Coordinate funding between Region and Area
- Oversee the pastoral and professional care and development of DFL
- Check in Monthly with the Regional Team (Trainer or ARD)
- Provide a detailed outline of how DFL time should be spent
